Issue 9 ~ October 2023

Forklifts these machines are becoming even more versatile and efficient. One area of innovation in the forklift industry is the development of a wide range of forklift attachments, which are allowing warehouses to maximize their storage space and streamline their operations.

Clamp attachments enable the lifting and movement of bulk materials such as bales, boxes, and bags, to rotators that allow for the easy dumping of materials, attachments are making it possible to perform tasks that were once impossible or difficult. For example, the paper and textile industries are now able to move large rolls of paper or fabric quickly and easily with the use of forklift attachments.

Another innovation in the forklift industry is the use of camera and sensor systems that provide operators with real-time data about their surroundings. These systems can help prevent collisions and improve safety in the workplace, while also increasing efficiency by reducing the time needed to maneuverer the forklift.

In addition, the use of smart technology is also revolutionizing the forklift industry. With the help of sensors and software, forklifts are now able to collect and analyze data on factors such as fuel consumption, maintenance needs, and operator performance. This data can be used to identify areas for improvement and optimize warehouse operations.

Overall, forklift attachments are transforming the way that warehouses operate. By increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving safety, these innovations are helping businesses stay competitive in an ever-changing market. As the technology continues to advance, it's clear that the future of the forklift industry is bright.

Through Inspection Fork Lift 12 monthly / yearly / 6 months ~ Issue 6 ~ April 2022

This is a in depth inspection by a Competent Person (normally a Fork Lift Engineer), checking for those that could be covered by PUWER: Forks, Lifting Chains, Hydraulic Components, Braking, Roll Cage etc. The idea behind The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) Through Inspection is to reduce the risks to people's H&S from Lifting Equipment provided for use at work. In order to comply with LOLER, you need to make sure that your forklift trucks are thoroughly inspected and examined every Six (6) months for lifting people otherwise every Twelve (12) months, on or before the due date. If this is not done, the equipment should be set aside and must not be used.

If the equipment is used in a Harsh Environment example Freezer, outside for long durations or 3 Shift Working Environment, will needed to be inspected, maintained more regularly.

MHE should have a Pre Use Inspection carried out at the start of shift and recorded, if not safe VOR, Vehicle Off Road tag fitted and removed from service.

Any Business or Organisation whose employees operate Lifting Equipment on the job are required to comply to these regulations, which come under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
